We're Losing The Battle Against Wild PigsFrom Berlin to Mississippi feral pigs are proving to be one of the most efficient and dangerous invasive species ever known. Smart industrious voracious and omnivorous eaters they reproduce quickly and destroy everything in their path. Modern Farmer has a lovely feature up on the menace--and yes it is a menace. The fact is hunting wild pig can be difficult and dangerous... and the cost/availability of ammo doesn't help.1) Request a truckload of US Marine snipers to set up in any county of your choosing you won't know they're even there. They'll probably even work for free.
2) Leave them over a weekend to do what they do. They only sign of them ever being there is a zone free of pig and a faint scent of bacon.Wild pig meat is popoular in Europe and pepole pay extra for it. So what it they are smarter than deer. That is where the skill of the hunter comes in. Also I do not understand where there would be a problem in finding the proper caliber of rifle to hunt pigs with.LoL they are just like humans but bullet resistant.Apparently all you really need to stop them is two pretty cow girls with a jeep and a couple of dogs.Is there really a losing battle going on against wild pigs?
I don't see one.  It's a problem that's not being addressed.  I know they are notoriously tough to kill but I'm pretty sure if there's a caliber for killing lion elephant and cape buffalo there's one for Ms. Piggy.Seriously a line of snipers and some old school animal drives ought to take care of the problem but the government's too busy outlawing soda pop and handing out free cell phones.Can we air drop\parachute a ka-zillion of these guys in the middle east!On the one hand we're told that pigs are causing damage in 47 states. And in another article we're told that their natural predators wolves have been taken off the endangered species list and put on the open season hunting list. Shouldn't wolf populations be allowed to control this pest? I heard that in Texas the bounty on them is around $10 per pig. Not much of an incentive to get rid of the problem. In Alberta they're $50 per pig and some counties will give you an additional $50 per pig for a total of $100. That is a worthwhile use of your timeThey're yummy and the price for their meat is higher than for beef. Looking at the pic it shouldn't be difficult to use a gun rather than a camera.Has anyone here had wild boar? They are very gamey tasting and not very good you basically have to cook them a very particular way to get them to taste good or else trap them and feed them grain for a month. Anything that make grub worms a staple of their diet is not going to taste good this is why people don't hunt them very often they taste terrible the hide is useless they really don't look all that good stuffed on a hunters wall there is really very little insentive to hunt them. They should start holding sporting contests with cash prizes for the biggest boar brought in much like a fishing tournement this might drive the population down.Feral hogs eat wolves. It's intended especially for wild hogs. 2 shots not one.MikeG hogs are not indigenous to the Americas - no natural predator.I know plenty of people who hunt these with AR-15's in .223. What they say is key is the quick follow-up shot that the AR's AK's and SKS's can provide. Hogs are hard to kill due to their intelligence not their hide.  Up close there are the tusks to tend with.So you get your standard breaktime snack truck add barbeque and 20 year old Hooters girl with 30-.06 rope and offroad motorcycle.  Nah it would never sell around our remote industrial and commercial sites.  Bad idea.Now if you also give her a sword now that just might work.  Juuust maybe.  It's real competition for those venues.  We'd just have to think of some kind of flashy gimmick.  Oh yeah.  Cheaper double-bacon cheeseburgers than the others by virtue of lower shipping and delivery costs as well as cutting out those expensive meatpacking facilities and that whole pesky USDA/FDA thing.  Nothing more complicated than cash stuffed in a web belt. It's environmental entertainment.  For a more sustainable more natural environment.  For our children.  Think of the CHILDREN!  Yes think of the children.  We get that fat Education funding package by filming videos about us hiring ethnic single mothers that receive real life skills like rifle shooting and sword operation and a free ESL course--and THEN being an OFFICIAL U.S. partner in education means that we don't have to go through that whole 'adult entertainment' thing with local housewives that are paranoid about their innocent husbands.Send this to Obama for a fast tracked system process patent.  We can probably clear 50000 grants for pilot programs outta him.  Then we'll get 5 times that many from the Republicans in the next cycle.  Yeah we'll let em sell us through the Dept. of Education enough of a firearm assortment to let each field unit train new personnel in the latest and most entertaining rifle/sword positions and poses so that they can advance their craft.  But we don't want to seem like we are on the take or anything; so we better limit ourselves to 3 guns of varying kinds-no 4?  Pistols?  They wouldn't count in the count right?Now keep in mind that this is all about cutting edge education for our kids.  We have to make this palatable for their generation so each of these field units will have to have what I suppose we'd call extreme stereo capability 2 way full spectrum communications remote networked computers NFL Network virtual reality and holographic emitters.  Remember it's for the kids.  THEIR future.  Their world.  We MUST STRIVE to show them-in OUR lifetime-that we are doing EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER to ensure sustainable stewardship of our lands and wildland brethren.So that means we'll need real serious high-speed offroading capability out of these trucks.  Yes.  It's only prudent that we allow the taxpayer to pay for ethnic kids to LEARN THESE TECHNOLOGIES that will allow us to go forward into their future with an equity in awareness that is far more profound.
